We say it all the time: “this year, I want to travel”.
“This year, I want to travel more.” “Let’s plan a trip this year” How often do we actually follow through with those statements?
Let’s get a few truths out really quickly, then. One, traveling as a group sounds great at first, but really sucks. I can only maybe travel in a group no bigger than 8 or 9 people and sometimes that’s stretching it. In 2015, when I had my bachelor party in Las Vegas, it was a headache! The prices and reservations were made in October of 2014 and the plans still managed to be a wreck because some of the 21 guys invited wanted to stay in hotels on the strip, rather than in an AirB&B (they “didn’t know” what AirB&B was at the time). Overall the trip became a bit of a drama fest, but I had a good time.
Now, I’m full-blown married now. Which means, my top priority in travel is my wife. I don’t care who’s not going, who’s going, who’s going on a sleez mission or not, but the idea is this folks: the goal in 2017 is to travel more! 2016 provided me with some travel opportunities that I can never forget. Bahamas in July, Phoenix in October, Baton Rouge in November, Miami in December. Since working full-time for myself, the opportunity has come more frequently, and I respect that everyone doesn’t have those flexibilities, but overall, I have some ideas of places to go to in 2017 and honestly - friends, mainly - if you’re reading this, consider the possibilities. My list of Travel Goals for 2017
1. Seattle, Washington & adjacent areas (domestic)
2. New Orleans, Louisiana (domestic)
3. Washington, D.C. (domestic)
4. Havana, Cuba (international)
5. Port-Au-Prince, Haiti (international)
