We run on instincts much like they do, and enjoy our natural way of operations physically. Much of our body's operations - breathing, heartbeat, and all the way down to cell growth - are completely involuntary. Nature makes us move even if we believe we're way above it. We are one in the same, and we might deny it, for humanity's sake, but we are comfortable in this dualistic scenario. The truth is, nature makes us greater human beings than our free will might ever make us.
Society has its fight or flight scenarios. Often times, too, society tells us to choose the forth, rather than the latter. This is the fear, and we are conditioned to want to run everytime. But let me ask you, what about when we stand and fight? What about when we don't run? What about when we stop running, and maybe never run again in our lives? Who do we become when we stop running from society? What makes us get back after we fall? What makes us try again for a third time - or a fourth, fifth, sixth, or seventh time? What makes us operate with grit, and unchallenged forwardness? I think it's The Other Guy (or gal). We don't see him or her often enough, but when they step forward for us, it's powerful. The Other Guy fights when we would almost always choose to run. The Other Guy rises to the occasion that looks like one of our many past failures. The Other Guy almost has no fears, and for that we should appreciate that about him. We always do. We stand in awe and wonder how we've managed to achieve greatness beyond our own fears. I'm telling you now, it's The Other Guy and I invite you to always let him or her step forward. Let the reigns be handed over, and allow yourself to operate in a fury of courage to fight and never flight again. He's neither animal, or us, and maybe his attitude walks the fine line. But whatever he is, and whatever he does, he does it in our best interest. When our greatness is out of reach, lying just outside the boundaries of political rules, cultural norms, racial standards, religious doctrine, legal parameters, personal preferences, or even personal fears. I hope you step out. I hope you leap. I hope you let go and let The Other Guy take you where he's heard you say, for scores of years, you wanted to be. Be inspired by him, and soon you'll take over will undeniable fortitude.
