In my quest to develop a sound blog for my readers, I've come across quite a few other sites focused on helping and providing some developmental advice for readers. Many of these sites succeed at drawing in not only the attention of readers, but also their loyalty. But is it ever enough? As stated in my latest Niume post, I've come to question if we - the readers of said blogs - are really getting our fix and our itch scratched reading advice blogs. We've subscribed, we've read, and we've applied what we can. And that might be the problem: we're applying what we can, rather than applying all of what is being delivered to us. The relationship between subscribers and writers becomes strangely conflicted immediately when "4 Ways To Manage Your Time Better" suddenly becomes a PinkMonkey synopsis of what seems like a penny pinch of advice. So, here's my angle and thoughts on this conflict. The truth is, we have so much faith in the internet that we're willing to give the link and headline a click. In fact, chances are you clicked this article for the same exact reason. As much as we honor and respect the knowledge on the internet, we're also quite skeptical of much of what we see (not necessarily read). So, where am I going with this? It's not enough. It's never really enough. Is your time management problems really fixable in 4 easy solutions which include "plan in advance", "work ahead", and "pick up where you left off"? First, let's acknowledge that all three of those solutions is pretty much the same thing; second, it doesn't answer the question HOW!? The real problem is that we're digesting so little from our favorite advice bloggers and something has to change quickly. On one hand, I want us - the faithful readers - to be able to write in those comments/replies boxes that the post in question isn't enough. I want us to politely write of favorite bloggers and say that contextually, the blog post was lacking and you noticed that they capped off at 305 words, just 5 more than needed for impactful SEO writing (according to guidelines by SEO Yoast Plug-In for WordPress). As readers, though, I want us to not be so desperate for advice that we've selected our favorite bloggers based on how aligned they are with our goals or aims in life.
Again, the same way the internet is full of resourceful information at our fingertips, always remember that there is always more beyond the first page of every search engine. Critically analyze the content you're getting from your "favorite blogger", or that blogger you just subscribed to. Does it make great internet content, or are you really getting the quality information - and advice in this case - that you're yearning for?
