New Year, New Me, And I'm Looking Forward to A New Project
At times, as a creative, you push so hard and apply as much of your energy to a project and get excited when you see things blossom. You get excited when people start speaking about your project, when they start sharing it, and the best one: when someone approaches you saying, "hey aren't you that [person who does that thing]". That is, beyond a doubt, the utmost most enjoyable feeling we feel as creatives.
And then, there's that other feeling. That overall feeling of "what the fuck is this?" or why are you doing it this way. These are the draining feelings that we often are told to ignore, but should also evaluate every now and then.
I won't lie to you. That was the amassing and growing feeling I had while continuing to produce new episodes of Marvel&Friends. I've had a lot of time to consider, and to think about it, but in the end I have grown, as I've told many of my friends, to fall out of love with the project. There are a number of different reasons as to why, but I'll reduce it to the disconnect between who I am and who I felt like I was on the microphone. Because I felt that way about myself, it just seemed like such a injustice to the folks I was bringing to the mic. I can comfortably say I've enjoyed the interviews, the connections, the topics, and the reception. I'm glad Marvel&Friends as a radio show and as a podcast was able to do what its done, but I think it's time we lay it to rest. Forever.
Moving forward, though, there are new projects coming forth. In the very strict restructuring of Marvel&Friends, I found a few pieces of inspiration and will be launching a new podcast series which you'll hear details from if you visit GoodKnocking Entertainment Group's website! It's going very different, but I think equally rewarding for the audience as well as for myself and GK's Podcast/Radio Production. In 2017, I learned a lot about podcasting, and I'm never one to exalt that I know everything. Nope. There are learning experiences, and these, along with the inspiration from the many people I've sat down with for the show, have helped me better manifest my creatives ideas and allocate my creative energy.
To all my guests from Jafarlee to Apolleaux to Deni Brave, to Shaniqua Martin, to C Bane, ToolOnDaBoards, and Alexia McKay, I say a very deep and warm thank you. Marvel&Friends episodes will not be going anywhere, and will continue to be available online via iTunes, Google Play, and iHeartRadio. This is our gift, rich and forever, to the world and to younger individuals who may one day admire our journeys.
